The Antimicrobial Peptide Database (APD) contains 2428 antimicrobial peptides (237 from bacteria, 2 from archaea, 7 from protists, 12 from fungi, 310 from plants, and 1819 animals) with the following activity:
Antibacterial Peptides
Antiviral Peptides
Antifungal Peptides
Antiparasitic Peptides
Anticancer/tumor Peptides
Anti-protist Peptides
Insecticidal Peptides
Spermicidal Peptides
Anti-HIV-1 Peptides
AMPs with chemotactic activity
AMPs with antioxidant activity
AMPs with protease inhibitory activity
A comprehensive AMP database resource manually curated based on a set of data-collection criteria (see About).
There are 945 antimicrobial peptides from amphibians, 79 from fish, 14 from reptiles, 36 from birds, 230 from insects, 33 from spiders, 33 from crustaceans, and more.

321 unique 3D structures are annotated. Over 200 with coordinates deposited in the PDB can be rotated, zoomed, and viewed.Top left: Amphibian magainin II;Top right: bovine lactoferricin;Bottom left: plant PsD1;Bottom right: bovine indolicidin.

This database consists of a pipeline of search functions. You can search for peptide information using APD ID, peptide name, amino acid sequence, peptide motif, chemical modification, length, charge, hydrophobic content, PDB ID, 3D structure, methods for structural determination, peptide source organism, peptide family name, life domains (bacteria, protozoan, fungi, plants, animals), antimicrobial activities (see links above), synergistic effects, target microbes, molecular targets, mechanism of action, contributing authors, and year of publication.
In addition, you can access the APD Peptide Calculator here.
